Since 2012, China's agricultural machinery imports and exports continue to maintain growth, but the growth rate slowed down significantly. Customs statistics show that by October 2012, China's agricultural machinery imports and exports reached 9.464 billion US dollars, with a year-on-year growth of 8.48%. Among them, imports amounted to us $2.173 billion and exports to US $7.291 billion, up 4.04% and 9.87% respectively.
In 2012, the export of agricultural machinery showed two significant characteristics, exports continue to maintain growth, imports declined slightly. Compared with the average growth of China's import and export of machinery, total exports, imports and exports increased by 4.46%, 6.13% and -0.89% respectively, resulting in a trade surplus of 5.18 billion US dollars.
Compared with the same period in 2011, the pace of import and export slowed down significantly, with a year-on-year decrease of 16.43%. Among them, the import volume increased slightly, with a year-on-year increase of 0.84%, and the export volume significantly decreased, with a year-on-year decrease of 16.13%.
Exports fell across the board. From the analysis of the export quantity of each category, except for milking machine, the main agricultural machinery varieties in China have increased greatly, and other categories have increased in different degrees. Customs statistics show that as of October 2012, China's total export of tillage management machinery, harvesting machinery, tractors, sowing and planting machinery, garden machinery, milking machines and agricultural vehicles 1,082 million, 24,300, 104,200, 115,200, 6,647,300, 20,100 and 9,500 vehicles, Year-on-year growth of 22.6%, respectively, to 48.7% - 30.0%, 24.1%, 6.0%, 46.4% and 26.9%.
The value of exports generally increased. From the export amount analysis, in addition to the farming machinery 9.1% decline, each category has different degrees of growth. Customs statistics show that as of October 2012, China's harvest machinery, tractors, sowing and planting machinery, garden machinery, milking machines and agricultural vehicles increased by 37.9 percent, 8.5 percent, 13.1 percent, 7.9 percent, 67.8 percent and 21.6 percent, respectively. The main reason for the increase of export amount is that China's agricultural machinery export structure appears a major adjustment, China's agricultural machinery export from the past mainly small and medium-sized products gradually transformed into large and medium-sized. With the increasing ability of the large and medium-sized agricultural machinery product development, product quality and performance optimization gradually, China's export structure is also a major adjustment, many manufacturers began to appear on the export structure big adjustment, large and medium-sized export gradually into the mainstream, with the improvement of a single export prices, formed the export decline, the phenomenon of export amount rise sharply.
The main reasons for the continuous growth of agricultural machinery export are as follows. First, in recent years, China's agricultural machinery export enterprises, especially large export enterprises, have a strong ability to resist risks. Secondly, 80% of China's agricultural machinery exports in recent years are small and medium-sized machinery with strong complementarity, which determines that China's agricultural machinery products have greater structural advantages. Again, Southeast Asia is an important export market of China, China's small tractors in these markets have a larger market proportion, a strong market foundation, coupled with the cost-effective advantage of China's agricultural machinery products, showing a strong market competitiveness. Fourth, the import of European and CIS countries has shown a trend of accelerating growth and hot spot rotation in recent years. China's agricultural machinery export is also a more favorable factor, China's agricultural machinery export enterprises can accelerate the development of export market in these regions. Fifth, China's agricultural machinery exports in the world agricultural machinery exports, still occupy a small proportion, the harvester in recent years has shown a rapid development trend, which determines China's small and medium-sized agricultural machinery in the world agricultural machinery market, has the characteristics of strong adaptability.
