The seminar was chaired by Ma Youxiang, Vice Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China. Delegates at the meeting exchanged experiences, built consensus, tapped potentials, discussed crisis challenges, and worked hard to achieve the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Goals on issues of rural development and poverty reduction. At the meeting, the establishment of the BRICS Agricultural and Rural Development Forum was announced, which provided a new mechanism platform for further promoting international exchanges and cooperation in the field of agricultural and rural development of the BRICS countries.

Chang Qide, UN Resident Coordinator in China, delivered a speech at the seminar on behalf of the UN system in China. Chang Qide congratulated China on its enormous efforts in rural revitalization, emphasizing that these efforts are based on extraordinary poverty reduction achievements. He said that the BRICS countries have the potential to play a dual role in rural development, on the one hand taking the lead in implementing inclusive policies and investments to achieve food and nutrition security in their own countries, and on the other by expanding South-South and tripartite cooperation for global sustainable development Contribute to Development Goal 2 Zero Hunger.
Ministers of Agriculture of BRICS countries, relevant United Nations agencies, and representatives of diplomatic envoys of developing countries in China participated in the discussion and exchange. Tang Renjian, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China, attended the BRICS Agriculture Ministers Meeting and delivered a keynote speech. With the theme of "Deepening BRICS Cooperation and Promoting Coordinated Development of Agriculture and Rural Areas", the conference focused on global food security, poverty reduction and other fields, and conducted in-depth exchanges on further deepening practical cooperation in agriculture and rural areas. The meeting reviewed and approved the 12th BRICS Agriculture Ministers' Joint Declaration and the BRICS Food Security Cooperation Strategy.
